  • Lost Plex

I'm using a VortexBox device from Innuos which has been working nicely until recently, it's running Plex Server 0.9.9.14 but my Samsung TV today insisted on upgrading Plex to the latest version. But on linking via a new code it's showing the error "Unable to switch user. User doesn't have access to any servers or shared content". I tried logging out and back in to the server but it's only made things worse, I can no longer sign the server into my Plex account as it states "There was a problem signing into Plex". Is the Plex server version running on this VortexBox so out of date that it can no longer sign in? Is there a way it can be upgraded? How can I get things back?

You can see the version difference between the server and my TV here:

    UPDATE:
Tried to update Plex through the web UI, that didn't work so I deleted it then re-installed it. It says it re-installed it OK but now I see no option to go to the Plex server on the web UI at all, and the old link (http://192.168.1.69:32400/web/index.html) no longer works (Unable to connect). Here's the log:

I'm no Linux expert but I think I'm on a pretty old version, as VB updates generally fail:

    VortexBox SW Version: 2.2
Linux OS Version: Fedora release 16 (Verne)

    [Juke.localdomain packages]# cat /proc/version
    Linux version 3.6.5-2.fc16.i686.PAE ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.6.3 20120306 (Red Hat 4.6.3-2) (GCC) ) #1 SMP Thu Nov 1 03:55:12 UTC 2012

I've sorted it, all I needed to do was get the latest 16-bit Fedora release link from https://www.plex.tv/en-gb/media-server-downloads, then paste that into a yum install command on a putty session (dnf did not work for me), i.e.:

    yum install https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server-ne w/1.17.0.1709-982421575/redhat/plexmediaserver-1.17.0.1709-982421575.i686.rpm

So you were able to install the Plex version shown as for Fedora 27+ on your old Fedora 16 VB? Other's have reported a problem with this.

Well it seems to be working. Here's the installation log, a couple of issues near the bottom but the result is a working Plex:
        Code:
