Machine is a compaq presario CQ5500Y with a 1 gig hd and 2gb ram. I have verified that the processor is 64bit. this is a 2.4 install, since 2.3 stopped working correctly on the same box.

If 2.3 stopped working I suspect something is wrong with your PC...

PC is functioning properly. Problem was with the ripping of CD's and DVD's. Partly with MakeMKV and partly with the fact that a fedora upgrade while trying to resolve the problem crashed the OS. Figured it was as good ass any to update to 2.4. Checkit Diagnostics cleared the pc with no issues. I wiped the hard drive and tried the install again, same result.

      Thanks again for any help.

I downloaded the full Fedora 23 DVD and installed it. went off with out a hitch. I then booted Partition Magic and wiped my hard drive and installed the Fedora f23-base.iso from the Vortexbox site, and it came up without any problems. Looks like the install has an issue.

What can I do to complete the upgrade to version 2.4?

        Thanks again for any help.

Quick question, did you do either a reboot or shutdown and restart after it appeared to hang?

On two of my 2.4 installs, I had the exact same thing happen. On the first one, I did a reboot, it restarted and went out to the Internet and pulled down about 5 minutes of files and then I got the normal command prompt on a running Vortexbox. The second box would not reboot so I removed the power, and headed to the Forums, got some advice and decided to start over. But I forgot to put the USB drive back in and booted the PC like I was going to do a reinstall so it booted when out to the Internet and pulled files for about 10 minutes, then came up as Vortexbox to its Command Prompt. Didn't need to start from scratch on either build. I wonder if there are occasions when a file is missed or damaged during the first update so the process doesn't finish and a simple reboot or shutdown restart corrects this by pulling the missing/corrupted file down again. Its worth a try over starting over from scratch.
