Doris, I having trouble with the VB 2.4 ugpgrade. I installed a blank 2 TB drive in the VB. I have attached a monitor via HDMI and a USB keyboard. The VB has an ethernet connection to the internet. I burned the VB 2.4 ISO file to a CD, and I booted the VB of the CD. The CD went through the installation, which seemed to work. However, when I get the screen that gives options to reboot, etc. and I select reboot, I see the screen offering to select Fedora or rescue Fedora. Then I see some processes labled Okay. Then the screen goes black, and I don't see any more. Any suggestions?

Try connecting your monitor via VGA ... select Fedora!
be sure to remove your burned ver 2.4 cd disc!

Was your VortexBox purchased from Small Green Computer?
If not is it a 64bit platform? If not you will have to install the 32bit version 2.3.below link:

I managed to get through the update and re-partitioning steps, as I could see those on the HDMI-connected monitor. When I reboot I now see three Fedora choices. But when I go from there I loose access to the monitor. I thought I had managed to save one of every kind of cable made by mankind, but I couldn't find a VGA. My VB is from Small Green Computer - vintage 2012 or so with an Atom processor. Should I go buy a VGA cable, or do you think something else may be the problem?

Also, when I look for the VB on my LAN, I can see an IP for it, but I can't connect to it.

I do not know what else to tell you except ... I would definitely want to try a VGA cable .... you may also want to give the USB install a try, what brand and model monitor are you using?
maybe something went wrong with the CDR-burn?

Maybe try reinstalling the original drive and confirm that it will still boot up to the VB command prompt???

Or try the VortexBox 2.3 iso instead of 2.4!

What are you going to try?
what brand and model monitor do you have?
                            please keep me immediately updated!

Just to be sure I did it correctly - I downloaded the file vortexbox24-release-20151125.iso to my Mac. Then I used the Finder command to Burn Disc Image to burn the file to a CD. When I view the contents of the CD in the finder after burning it, I no longer see a single ISO file as I did in my Downloads Folder. Instead I see six folders plus Clonezill and GPL and a readme file. I used that disc to boot the Small Green Computer Vortex Box. I believe it went through all of the installation. Then I removed the CD and rebooted from the new hard drive in the VB. At first I had could not see anything on the monitor. Later - I don't know why - I was able to see prompts on the monitor. I logged into the root and performed the update and then the re-partion. Then I rebooted. After the initial screen the monitor went dark again. I feel like everything installed. However I can't tell. It seems like I should get a VGA cable to see if I can see anything before trying anything else.

The monitor I'm using is a few year old ASUS with an HDMI cable.
