It's been a while since I've used vortexbox, a few years actually. I have set up a new box and currently, all is working. But I remember when using it before that after a while the makemkv beta key expires and has to be reentered. How do we do that again? I am interested in purchasing a key from makemkv to support the software eventually since I really like how well it works.

To buy a "KEY" here is the URL: http://makemkv.com/buy/

To enter the current Beta Key or a Registered Key, one enters myvortexbox.com in a web browser which opens the Vortexbox GUI, click on System Configuration, then click on License manager, enter your KEY or the Beta KEY and click on submit.

Current Beta Keys can be found on the MakeMKV Forum.

      Awesome, thanks.

I'm sure this was covered under the old forum but I hadn't found it here yet.

No worries. I didn't know where it was at 4 weeks ago myself. Had never had a need for it as I didn't own a KEY and was always able to get a timely Update with a dnf -y update to stay current. When that wasn't working and I had just bought a large collection of DVDs at a Church Yard Sale; I needed to get ripping again. I emailed somebody from the Forum that I knew would know. It was right in front of my face the whole time, but I had my mind made up that it was some complicated CMD Line task I was going to have to do. Glad I could help and glad it was still fresh in my memory.

Is License Manager a feature of 2.4 only?
I'm on 2.3 and can't find it. Haven't upgraded because I understand it's a full rebuild and haven't needed to up to now. Maybe now is the time?

Shouldn't be, License Manager is part of my 2.3 Vortexbox. Once you have clicked on the System Configuration Icon about midway down the left side of the Vortexbox GUI, it will open. Once open, the top bar says "System Configuration" and right under that from Left to Right are "Reboot" button, "Power Down" button, and lastly "License Manager" that resembles a URL Link. Click the link and the License Manage window will replace the System Configuration window. Enter your MakeMKV KEY.

One can also go directly to "License Manager" by entering one's Vortexbox IP Address in a Web Browser followed by /licensemanager.php
Example: http://192.168.0.91/licensemanager.php with 192.168.0.91 being the IP Address of a Vortexbox on a Local Network

Good god, I'm, going blind Many thanks Transporter. That will teach me to read what's in front of me
Glad I found it because I was looking at upgrading to 2.4 but just realized it requires 64 bit and I'm running 2.3 on an old 32 bit machine at the moment.
              Thanks again Transporter.

No worries glad I could help. Years ago I wanted to try PLEX and Andrew said just goto Vortexbox Upgrade and click install. Silly me didn't bother to read down any further on the menu because I was using my iPhone (small screen display) and I just clicked on the "Start Upgrade" button and PLEX didn't get installed. When I finally used my Laptop to have a look at what I must be doing wrong, there was the Package Manager install section below, DOH!

It happens to all of us, we get in a hurry, over think it and look in the wrong place, or any of a 1000 other reasons. I taught Intro to Computer Programming at Craven County Community College (4C your future) and I was amazed that older adults (40s to 60s, I was in my 20s at the time) could not finish the syllabus due to fighting the computer where as I had some kids as young as 12 taking the course and I had to create extra assignments because they would finish the syllabus early. The Reason, when the kids didn't get the correct answer or result, they reworked their code and program until they did. The adults kept thinking they were right and the computer was doing something wrong which was why they were not getting the correct results. Children can easily except mistakes and try again. Some of the adults would run the same code over and over again thinking the error message or incorrect results was going to change without any changes to their code or program.
