  • VB 2.4 Multi Disk Install

    Hello everyone,
How many disks (internal SATA) can you have in a VB2.4 install? I've searched the Wiki and forum and haven't been able to find an answer so I'm asking it here. I have a HP Proliant Microserver with 4 SATA bays. At most I've been able to use two dirves, but would like to use all four. I tried creating a raid 0 array also, but that didn't work. I know I could probably get a 6TB drive and install it, but this box is for a friend so they can try it. If they like it we may do that in the future, but for now I like to use some old 1.5TB and 1.0TB drives I have laying around rather than spend money.
Thanks to all for the help in advance, I really do appreciate it!
    Dale

Would this work with an external USB drive as well?

I have a Dell server with an internal disk array which is very full. So could I extend /storage with above instructions and add a USB drive into this? Does the USB drive also appear something like /dev/sd<x>

This may work with USB drives. But you will be creating a huge fragile mess that would fail easily. If you disconnect the USB drive all your music would disappear and you may not be able to get it back.

So the potential to fail would be connected to the removal of the drive mainly? Meaning if this USB drive was connected permanently this should work? The other aspect could be the speed. If the USB drive was part if /storage it would likely slow down the whole partition, right?
