There is even an easier and cheaper way to isolate all noise, it is called Toslink! If one is into high end audio and worried about noise and getting the best signal source, one doesn't use a USB DAC powered off the USB Spec port. One uses a different DAC or a USB DAC with its own dedicated linear power supply.

If you guys are interested we sell the microRendu. It has an ultra low noise USB port for your DAC. It runs squeezelite and it allows you to have a DAC in a different room then your VortexBox.

In testing it has much better sound then using USB filters like the one from iFi.

Although we did see and improvement using iFi on a USB DAC attached directly to a VortexBox USB port.

The new and improved microRendu has arrived. microRendu Version 1.5 has been redesigned with improved/upgraded components giving you better performance in your audio network streamer. We also improved the price so our customers can get a better network endpoint streamer and not break the bank.
