Thanks for all the hard work and time, Andrew! Great to see the Vortexbox Forum back online. Wonderful idea to upgrade to a Cloud Based Forum once it was determined the old data was unrecoverable. Again, thanks!

We are now hosting vortexbox.org in the cloud. This should be much faster and more reliable!

                Thanks for your patience.

                  Hi,
Happily used a VB Appliance for several years (now moved VB to an old PC after the VBA finally gave up the ghost after running 24-7 for longer than I would have expected!) and glad to see this site back.
With regards to information from the old site, according to the Internet Archive / Wayback machine (https://web.archive.org/web/*/vortexbox.org) the site was "saved" 207 times between January 9, 2009 and March 31, 2017 and it looks like a lot of old threads are available there if anybody has the time to trawl and retrieve them.

Hi All great site and thanks for the VortexBox software, I been searching for this type of software for a friend and myself for years now and all it seem to come back to was kodi and I did not want something talking to the internet all the time, I wanted mainly for networking at home and VortexBox delivers just that and more.

VortexBox website needs to be shared around more, needs more videos on youtube also more search engine optimization so others can find the site as I only found it by chance.

Also I feel the forums needs a new topic where people can talk about software mods they have done to there system and other such things

Welcome to the World of Vortexbox. I don't know where you were looking or what Google Foo you were using, but if you Google Vortexbox there are over 72,100 hits! Also Vortexbox or Vortexbox Appliance shows up someplace on almost every Board or Forum that deals with Open Music Servers or Network Music Players.

Again Welcome and Enjoy the Music!

Hi Thanks for the Warm Welcome,

I was searching like "jukebox" and more advanced searches like "GNOME/GTK+ GUI Personal Jukebox Manager" but searching "change xbox 360 into jukebox"is how I found it, it was the old 1.7 version that give me the name VertoxBox to search because this is like a advanced jukebox to me just without having a stacker and just what I was looking for. I searched Github and could not find anything like I wanted or suited me, looked at many other places and read forums but nothing had Vortexbox listed but I'm glad I stumbled upon it.

                          SprinterOz.....
Glad you found it especially if it handles what you need. When it comes to a reliable Media server for ripped Digital Music and Movie files that also includes an Auto-ripper, Vortexbox is very hard to beat for features or ease of use and maintenance. Andrew and Company keep things updated so that the main current version is running on a fairly up to date version of Fedora as well as being able to talk to and work with the latest new hardware being released to the market. Vortexbox 2.4 works great with Roon and RoonReady equipment as an example.

As for me, I have a huge Audio CD Library which most other servers can't handle the total number of Artists and actual song files. I have built a second VBA 2.4 and am now ripping all my Movies to it so I am running one Vortexbox for Music and a second one for Movies. Of course normally one would just build a big enough server to put both ones Music and Movies on, but I have way too much Music of that plus a very large DVD collection so two servers made more sense for me (plus if I every lose a Server again due to a lightening strike and fire, I only have to rebuild half my collection). I used the PLEX software install in the Vortexbox GUI under Vortexbox Upgrade. Great software for handling ones movies.

                          Enjoy the Music!
