  • Radio Paradise FLAC on VB 2.3

    Hi,

I am running VB 2.3 with the latest VB LMS 7.9.1 and am trying to enable the Radio Paradise plugin which allows FLAC streaming.

It works fine with LMS 7.9.1 on linux but whenever I enable the plugin on my VB and then restart LMS, it comes back with the plugin disabled.

Has anyone got this working on VB ?

Is the plugin written for a 64bit platform? Just a thought.

Possible... but its a new plugin so expect that it would be..

Some more digging. On my Ubuntu LMS, the owner for /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/ is 'root'. On my VB, the owner for the same directory is 'squeezeboxserver'. I tried to install another plugin and got the same result - it would not stay enabled following a restart of LMS and the directory created is owned by root.

This is clearly not consistent - is it likely an issue ? I dont really want to start changing ownership of directories/files etc in case I break things...

I had some similar issues getting Spotty and the BBC plugins to stay enabled after my fresh VB2.4 installation. It seemed to take a few attempts and manual squeezelite restarts using systemctl to get the new plugins to remain as enabled.

Just looked at the ownership on the plugins directories and all mine are owned by squeezeboxserver. Perhaps someone with more expertise in any differences between 2.3 and 2.4 can chime in with regards to the correct ownership settings on those directories.

If it is 64bit it won't work on VB2.3 which is 32bit

well some more digging. I think that my VB 2.3 is messed up - whenever I try and enable a plugin, LMS breaks. server.log gives me permission errors for the plugin directory and I had to delete the downloaded plugin file so that I could get LMS to load again.

Given that I am on 2.3 and can upgrade I think that that is the best approach at this point. Roll on 2.5

            thanks all for your input.
